THE STORY

​

Borne out of both desire to see more diversity in the water and boredom of trekking to the surf alone, Cate created South Island Surf Club, a Surf Club for people in the Victoria, Langford and Sooke areas, focusing on meet ups for women, femme and non-binary people! 

​

The surf club is open to anyone who identifies as the above, and aims to meet once per month near Jordan River or Sombrio to go surfing together (Didiidaht and Pacheedaht territories) when the waves are pumping (generally from October to March).

​

We also have a Whats App group that acts as a way to stay in the loop for upcoming events, and also as a space to arrange casual gatherings, exchange surf tips and find surf buddies.

​

Our goal is to make people feel safer and supported getting into the water, and remember that they belong!
